Youth Ambassador Shri Vidit Sharma, Alongside Shri Ajay Choudhary, IPS (ADGP), Lead High-Impact Mental Health Awareness Movement at GMERS Gandhinagar

GANDHINAGAR, GUJARAT | 23rd APRIL 2026 — In a decisive step towards strengthening mental health awareness and building a resilient, drug-free youth ecosystem, Shri Vidit Sharma, Youth Ambassador, Government of Gujarat, alongside Shri Ajay Choudhary, IPS, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Government of Gujarat, led a high-impact Mental Health Awareness Session under the flagship campaign “Mind Strong Gujarat” at GMERS Medical College and General Hospital, Gandhinagar.

Organized in collaboration with the Department of Psychiatry, the session strongly reinforced the urgent social mission:

“No To Suicide | No To Drugs”

Statewide Impact & Leadership

Shri Vidit Sharma, through the Mind Strong Gujarat initiative, has successfully conducted awareness sessions across 36+ universities and colleges, reaching 10 lakh+ students and youth across Gujarat — making it one of the most impactful youth-led mental health awareness movements in the state.

The initiative witnessed the presence of leading medical and institutional authorities:

– Dr. Meeta Parikh, Medical Superintendent, GMERS Civil Hospital, Gandhinagar 

– Dr. Ankur Zalawadia, Dean, GMERS Medical College, Gandhinagar 

– Dr. Kaushal Jadeja, Assistant Professor & I/C HOD, Department of Psychiatry 

The session saw active participation from medical students, doctors, and faculty members, reflecting a strong institutional commitment towards mental well-being.

Key Highlights of the Session:

– Awareness on rising mental health challenges among youth 

– Strong call for action against suicide and drug abuse 

– Practical guidance on stress management, emotional resilience, and self-awareness 

– Building a supportive and mentally aware campus ecosystem 

Addressing the gathering, Shri Vidit Sharma emphasized that mental health awareness is not an option but a necessity for nation-building. He highlighted the large-scale impact of his campaign, reaching lakhs of youth and driving a statewide movement of awareness, prevention, and positivity.

Alongside him, Shri Ajay Choudhary, IPS (ADGP) delivered a powerful address, underlining the critical role of law enforcement, institutions, and society in tackling drug abuse and supporting youth mental well-being.

The session concluded with a strong collective pledge towards building a “Mentally Strong, Drug-Free, and Responsible Gujarat.”

This successful initiative marks a major milestone in advancing mental health awareness in Gujarat, further strengthening the vision of “Mind Strong India” and contributing towards the larger goal of a Viksit Bharat.
