Under the dynamic leadership of Neha Goyal, Chairperson – YFLO Ahmedabad, the chapter hosted one of its most impactful and enriching sessions till date with celebrity makeup artist Namrata Soni, where over 120 members gathered for an immersive two-hour masterclass into the real world of professional beauty.
The session wasn’t just about makeup — it was about understanding skin, structure, tools and technique in a way that empowers women to elevate their everyday routine.
Namrata Soni began the session by emphasizing that flawless makeup always starts with correct skincare. She highlighted the importance of applying the right moisturiser and allowing it a full eight minutes to settle into the skin before beginning makeup. According to her, this one simple step can dramatically elevate the overall finish and longevity of makeup.
She then guided members through smart and effective product usage, explaining the correct way to layer base products for a seamless look. A key takeaway was the strategic use of setting spray—not just at the end, but at multiple stages of makeup application, including during the base, between layers, and after completing the look. This technique helps lock in hydration and ensures long-lasting, fresh-looking makeup.
During the session, Namrata demonstrated two distinct eye looks to help members understand versatility in makeup. One was a fresh and fun daytime look, while the other was a glamorous, heavy party look. Through these demonstrations, members learned how to effortlessly transition their makeup from day to night.
One of the most insightful segments focused on contouring and highlighting based on individual face shapes. Namrata explained that for square faces, contouring should not remain confined to just under the jawline but should extend slightly upward to soften sharp angles. She also stressed that highlight placement varies depending on bone structure, making personalization essential for the best results.
She further dispelled the common myth that one eyeshadow technique suits all eye shapes. For hooded or smaller eyes, she explained that eyeshadow must be extended above the crease so the colour remains visible when the eyes are open, ensuring a more defined and balanced look.
Another important aspect of the session was understanding makeup tools. Members were introduced to the functions of various brushes, including fan, fluffy, and dense brushes, as well as makeup sponges. Namrata clearly explained when to blend with a brush versus a sponge to achieve a flawless, professional finish.
What truly made the session special was its deeply practical and real-world approach. The interactive demonstrations were aligned with professional industry standards, leaving members feeling confident, informed, and better equipped to refine their everyday beauty routines.
