Sima Taparia Turns Matchmaker for ShemarooMe’s ‘Haju Vaat Chaale Che’

Matchmaking is rarely just about finding two people who get along; in an Indian family, it is a full-fledged exercise involving preferences, expectations, family opinions and, often, a long list of criteria. Bringing this familiar yet entertaining reality into the world of its latest Gujarati original, ShemarooMe has joined hands with India’s much-loved matchmaker Sima Taparia for Haju Vaat Chaale Che, creating a fun matchmaking-led initiative around the show. The Gujarati dramedy follows Shivani Dave as she navigates the unpredictable world of arranged marriage and meets a series of prospective grooms.

Known for her distinctive approach to matchmaking and her ability to understand personalities, families and expectations, Sima Taparia steps into the world of Haju Vaat Chaale Che to bring her matchmaking expertise to Shivani’s search for a suitable partner. The collaboration gives the show an entertaining real-world extension, as Sima takes a closer look at the kind of qualities, compatibility and expectations that come into play when families set out to find the right match. Her involvement also adds a playful layer to the show’s central premise of navigating multiple prospective grooms and the many opinions that come with the arranged-marriage process. Sima has been professionally involved in matchmaking since 2005 and became globally recognised through her show.

Speaking about the association, Sima Taparia says, “Matchmaking is not just about making a biodata match; it is about understanding the person, their family, their values and what they really want from a life partner. What I enjoyed about this association with ShemarooMe and Haju Vaat Chaale Che is how naturally the show captures the fun, confusion and emotions that come with finding the right match. There may be many choices, but ultimately, compatibility and understanding are what makes a relationship work. I had a lot of fun stepping into this world and seeing whether we could find the right rishta!”

With Haju Vaat Chaale Che, ShemarooMe brings a culturally rooted Gujarati story to audiences through a contemporary and humorous lens. The show follows Shivani’s journey through a series of matrimonial meetings, while balancing family expectations, personal choices and the larger question of what truly makes a marriage work. The Sima Taparia collaboration takes that premise beyond the screen and turns the show’s matchmaking theme into a fun audience-facing conversation, making the search for the right rishta an experience that audiences can relate to, debate and enjoy. Haju Vaat Chaale Che is now streaming on ShemarooMe, with its Hindi version available under the title Ek Kanya Kunwari.
