Ahmedabad 21 March 2025: The Intellectual Property Facilitation Centre (IPFC), a strategic initiative under the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises, Government of India,Innovative Scheme implemented by the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India, Ahmedabad, is designed to empower MSMEs by enhancing their intellectual property (IP) capabilities.
In today’s knowledge-driven economy, MSMEs often face challenges such as limited awareness, technical expertise, and financial constraints in protecting their innovations through Intellectual Property Rights. Establishing an IPFC addresses these gaps by providing a one-stop solution for IP filing support, fostering innovation, and sustainable growth among MSMEs.
Activities of the IPFC:
- Establish a dedicated IP Facilitation Center to support IP-related activities for MSMEs.
- Collaborate with IP attorneys and IP Agencies for the end-to-end IP support and activities.
- Offer support for drafting, filing, and prosecuting DomesticPatents, Foreign Patent,Trademarks, Designs and Geographical Indication.
- Provide financial assistance to the MSME for IP filing and prosecution.
In alignment with its mission to support Geographical Indication, EDII,in industry collaboration with the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry (GCCI) Business Women Committeeis hosting the Geographical Indication (GI) Mahotsav, ‘RangSoota’Promoting India’s Heritage through GI Products from March 21-23, 2025 at SindhuBhavan Hall. The vibrant exhibition celebrates India’s rich cultural heritage by showcasing over 50 GI-tagged crafts from across nation. Artisans will showcase a diverse range of crafts including: Phulkari, Jodhpur Bandhej Craft, SojatMehndi, PatanPatola, Mata Ni Pachhedi,Gujarat Suf Embroidery, Kutch Rogan Craft and many more.
A Business-to-Business (B2B) Meet is also being organizedOn March 21st, offering an opportunity for bulk sales and access to new customers and market. This initiative aims to expand the reach of Geographical Indication (GI) products and support the growth of artisan communities. The event will also feature cultural event,including Kutchifolk music live performance on March 21st and puppet show on March 22nd. This Mahotsav serves as an important platform for preserving and promoting India’s rich cultural heritage.
