India Tea Walkathon a Resounding Success in Rajkot

RAJKOT, GUJARAT | 14th MARCH 2026 — Tea Board India organised a highly successful “India Tea Walkathon” today at Bahumali Chowk, Rajkot. The event drew enthusiastic crowds from all walks of life, including students, senior citizens, fitness advocates, sports enthusiasts and Indian tea lovers, all gathering to champion the health benefits of Indian teas and an active lifestyle.

The event was organised by Tea Board India, under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, as part of a campaign promoting the message of “India Tea – The Wellness that Wins”.

Indian woman cricket star Ms. Richa Ghosh graced the walkathon as the chief guest. She lauded the enthusiasm and high energy level of the crowd, interacted with the participants and encouraged the youth to adopt disciplined, healthy habits and to make Indian tea a part of their daily wellness routines.

The walkathon began in the morning at Bahumali Chowk, Rajkot, where participants gathered with enthusiasm for promoting the richness and diversity of Indian teas and spread the message of wellness and healthy living.

The core mission of the walkathon was to highlight tea as a natural, refreshing health beverage rather than just a casual drink.

The campaign brought the Rajkot community together to appreciate the rich variety of Indian teas. The event successfully raised awareness about different regional specialties, like Darjeeling, Assam, Nilgiri, Kangra, Sikkim, Dooars-Terai, Tripura, Bihar, as well as various preparations including black tea, green tea, iced tea, lemon tea and the classic Masala Chai.

The participants were welcomed with hot energizing cups of chai in the morning before the start of the walkaton to boost their energy levels and were treated to cool refreshing cups of iced teas upon completion of the activities. Apart from hot chai and iced teas, the crowds also got the opportunity to taste and sample the varieties of teas such as black tea, green tea, lemon tea, Masala Chai etc.

Overall, the energetic public response significantly boosted awareness about the myriad varieties of Indian teas, as well as reinforced the message of holistic wellness through tea.
