7th Edition of AGFTC and ITBA’s Tax Conclave Brings Together Leading Tax Experts

AHMEDABAD, GUJARAT | 06th MARCH 2026 The seventh edition of the Tax Conclave jointly organised by the All Gujarat Federation of Tax Consultants (AGFTC) and the Income Tax Bar Association (ITBA), Ahmedabad, began on Friday, March 6, at the Ahmedabad Management Association (AMA) to deliberate on key developments in direct and indirect taxation.

The event was inaugurated in the presence of Justice Pranav Trivedi of the Gujarat High Court as the chief guest and Shushilkumar Madhuk, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Ahmedabad as the guest of honour.

The conclave has brought together leading experts from across the country to examine evolving tax laws, litigation trends and compliance challenges under the Income Tax and GST frameworks.

Speaking on the occasion, advocate Ashutosh Thakkar, President of the All Gujarat Federation of Tax Consultants, said, “Tax laws are evolving at a rapid pace, and it is essential for professionals to continuously upgrade their knowledge and understanding. Through this conclave, we have brought together some of the country’s most respected experts so that practitioners can gain practical insights on emerging challenges in taxation.”

Advocate (Dr.) Kartikey Shah, President of the Income Tax Bar Association, Ahmedabad, said, “The conclave provides an important opportunity to exchange views on complex tax issues and litigation trends. Discussions over the two days will focus on some of the most critical aspects of direct and indirect taxation, including dispute resolution, judicial developments and compliance challenges. Such forums play a vital role in strengthening professional competence and facilitating knowledge-sharing within the tax fraternity.”

The first day of the conclave featured three technical sessions covering key aspects of taxation practice and policy. Senior Advocate Tushar Hemani spoke on ‘Judicial Landmarks Under the New Law: Survival of Key Income Tax Precedents in the Income Tax Act, 2025.’ CA A. Jatin Christopher addressed the GST dispute resolution framework, offering insights into the journey from adjudication to the appellate tribunal. Bhavin Goklani spoke on the growing role of artificial intelligence in tax practice and the use of digital tools to enhance efficiency.

A panel discussion on critical direct tax provisions featured advocates Mehul Patel and Samir Divetiya, along with CA Mehul Thakker and CA Aseem Thakkar, who deliberated on emerging issues and interpretational challenges faced by practitioners.

The second day of the conclave will feature four technical sessions addressing major developments in taxation law and litigation. These include sessions by advocate K. Vaitheeswaran on the interplay between income tax and GST, CA Abhishek Raja on technical and litigation aspects of the GST Act, and advocate Dhinal Shah on remuneration, interest and TDS issues under the 1961 and proposed 2025 income tax regimes.

The conclave will also host a panel discussion on key indirect tax provisions featuring advocate (CA) Abhay Desai, advocate Samir Siddhapuria, and CA Rashmin Vaja, CA Punit Prajapati and Jigar Shah, who will discuss pressing GST issues.
